Isle of Dogs live: Updates after double stabbing in East London

A stabbing victim who was rushed to hospital fighting for his life has now been declared in a non-life threatening condition. Two men were injured following a double stabbing in East London on Sunday night (August 28). Police were called to East Ferry Road on the Isle of Dogs at around 10.45pm. A 23-year-old man was found with stab wounds and taken to hospital. Police say he is in life-threatening condition.

While there, officers found a second man in nearby Limeharbour. He was also taken to hospital in a non-life threatening condition. The crime scene remains in place and no arrests have been made.

Crime scenes have been in place in East Ferry Road on the Isle of Dogs since last night (August 28), and local residents have been shocked by the violence. Blood can also be seen on the pavement following the stabbing. One of the local residents described on Facebook that the police had closed the road and that “a lot of armed police” were in the area following the incident, and pictures from the scene showed that the emergency services were present.

A local resident, who claims to have witnessed the incident, told MyLondon: “I was waking up at home when I saw two police cars in front of the bar [Aurora Lounge] and a policeman trying to save a person was lying on the floor.

“I thought it was a bar fight at first, as they happen there sometimes. [I was] trying to go around them, and saw his friend covered in blood, and then the police officer taking the clothes of the guy who was on the floor. As I live next door I wanted to go home […] Trying to get around, we realized it wasn’t a bar fight as the whole street was covered in blood and knives were left.”

He added: “Also at the moment there are red lumps around the scene, but they took the knives. Also two phones are still on the ground even though they were ringing all night […] We don’t usually have too much of a problem with crime around here, but it’s been getting worse.”

His attacker has now been found guilty of his murder. Kwabena Boateng, 22, of Dod Street, E14, was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, July 29 of murdering Mohamed. He was also found guilty of having a knife in his possession.
