A 98-year-old woman lying on her back bed was sent a bill of interest that she said she drank the equivalent of one million cups of tea in six months.

Mr Mendoza added: “If she hadn’t had me, Thames Water would have been billed £215 a month and she would have done nothing.”

A spokesman said: “Looking after customers who need extra support and delivering excellent customer service is one of our top priorities.
“Our team is aware of her situation and has escalated the situation so that we can visit her and investigate and if possible, we will fix her garbage in her property. , and then we issue a correction document.”
