A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping and beating another woman

the man has been in prison for more than 20 years after assaulting two women.

Mohammed Tarik, 21, of St Stephens Crescent, was sentenced to 20 and a half years in Southwark Crown Court on July 8.

Earlier, Tarik pleaded guilty in the same court in February to three rapes, two of actual damage and one robbery.

Detective Inspector Ian Kenward, the investigator, said: “Tari is clearly a dangerous criminal who was in great danger to the woman. I am glad that our investigation means that she will spend considerable time behind the scenes.”

On November 11, 2019, Tarik approached a woman near St. Thomas Hospital in Lambeth. He followed the 40-year-old woman before punching her and raping her.

He left the scene and agents soon took forensic samples, but no matching DNA was found.

On October 30, 2021, a woman was called to the police dragging her from an alley and assaulting her at Hallfield Estate near Paddington.

A citizen confronted him in the attack, and he contacted police. He suffered minor injuries and had a DNA sample taken from Tariki, which he linked to the rape in Lambeth two years earlier.

Mr Kenward added: “I would like to commend the two women who took part in these cases who suffered such horrific and frightening experiences and I hope this result will bring a small closure.

“This case demonstrates the Met’s commitment to tackling violence against women and girls. We recognize that we have more to do in this area to ensure that everyone in London feels safe, but we will do everything we can to help victims and bring criminals to justice.”
