A teenager has pleaded guilty to murdering 14-year-old Jermaine Cools in south London.
The 17-year-old pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Monday.
Jermaine was stabbed to death in London Road, Croydon, in November 2021, following a fight involving several people.
He was transferred to the hospital, but died soon after.
The defendant pleaded guilty after previously admitting to possessing a knife at the scene of the fight.
Jermaine’s family were in court on what was supposed to be the first day of the trial for the teenager’s murder.
Prosecutor Caroline Carberry KC proposed a sentencing date of February 24.
The accused, whose name cannot be mentioned because he is under 18 years old, was remanded in custody.

After Jermaine’s funeral last year, his father Julius described the ordeal as “terrible”.
“Our son was everything, to be honest,” he said.
“We lived in great pain, we don’t sleep at night, we just wake up and keep asking ourselves why?”
Jermaine’s killing came in a record year for teenage murders in London, with 30 under-18s killed.
