Part of a residential road in southeastern London has collapsed and broken into a huge hole.
The road above Martens Avenue, Bexleyheath, began splitting and falling into a ditch Tuesday evening, and police were called.
The fallen area is now a few streets wide and several feet on the other side, but officials said no one was injured.
Road is built to reach Leysdown Avenue.
Thames Water staff were on duty Wednesday afternoon to assess whether water pipes had been affected by the collapse.
Bexleyheath residents told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) that it was the second time that a large hole had swallowed their environment; back in 2008, a similar hole appeared in a park near Braeside Crescent.
Kate Bostal, 38, said she would have to take a different approach when it came to running a school because of the depth.

Meanwhile, Eddie Rivers, 49, said neighbors explained to him the sound of “crack” as the road continued.
He said: “I saw it last night at nine o’clock last night as I was unpacking the barrels.
“Of course, there were a few people standing there, and I asked what was going on, and they said there was a noise and it opened.
“They said the noise was like a signal. The police arrived shortly afterwards and closed the road.”
Neighbor Paul Power, 56, added: “It’s crazy. To put it this way, we said you lived in a house near a waterway and you got out of a car. Yours. Can you imagine that? “
