London Ontario Police Investigate Far Northeast Shooting

London, Ont., police are investigating a shooting that happened early Wednesday morning in the city’s northeast end.

Around 4:40 a.m., emergency crews received a report of a shooting on Flanders Row where a man was later found with apparent gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to police, the suspect fled the area prior to their arrival.

Daniel Gallant lives across the street from the shooting and said he didn’t find out what happened until he “got up to make coffee.”

“I didn’t hear anything. My son apparently did, but fell back asleep. He didn’t know if it was real fire or not. The police came, interviewed us and that was about it,” Gallant said.

Having lived on Flanders Row for 20 years, Gallant says he has never witnessed a shooting in the area.

“You’d get the occasional house party that got a little wild, but nothing like this.”

No other details are available, but police say they do not believe this was a random incident.
